Performance Dogs of Ohio performed for an amazing audience at a college basketball game this past weekend. The crowd was enthusiastic and engaged which made the experience even better. The louder the crowd cheered the higher our performance dogs jumped!
The number one question we got that day was, “Why are the dogs wearing boots?”.
Although it does look strange, there is a simple explanation!
The quick answer is that it provides our K9s the safest footing on the slippery floor of the basketball court. We also tape their paws under the boots to make sure the boots do not slide around on their paws. Safety is so important to us when performing at an event like this. The dogs move a bit slower with the boots and it takes a bit of time for the handler and the dog to adjust their routine to accommodate this fancy K9 footwear. If you are wondering what footwear our dogs have on in this performance you can check out this link. Disc dog or frisbee dog is hard enough in the grass but when you add the slippery floor it add a entire new level of difficulty or as my old boss use to say opportunity for excellence. We always tell people it is like playing with your dog at 3/4 speed. We hope to see you at our next show and don’t hesitate to reach out to our team members with questions about disc, stunts, tricks or any other canine questions.
